How to Make Surreal Pastels with Lightroom | Adobe Creative Cloud

Apply color grading to your photos to create some vintage hues.

Start from scratch, or download practice files [https://adobe.ly/2XLzbBI] for a head start. Steps below.

1. Open the photo provided (File – Add Photos) or try these steps with your own.
2. Click the Edit icon in the upper right.
3. Adjust Light settings: Use the sliders to edit the Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, and Shadows.

Tip: Here are the settings we used: Exposure: +1.25; Contrast: -100; Highlights: -40; Shadows: +25.

4. Edit the color: Click the Color Mixer icon in the Color panel. Adjust the settings for the Reds and Blues in the photo.

Tip: Here are the settings we used:
Red: Hue: +100; Luminance: +60.
Blue: Hue: -80; Saturation: -20; Luminance: +50

5. Adjust a color from the photo: Click the Target Adjustment icon in the Color panel. Choose Saturation from the menu that displays. Then, drag in the photo to adjust the colors in the photo.

Tip: We selected a portion of the wood paneling inside the train to edit the saturation for the overall photo based on the selected color. We chose +50 for the Saturation.

6. Edit the photo detail: Expand the Detail panel and modify the settings.

Tip: Here are the settings we used:
Noise Reduction: 50
Color Noise Reduction: 25

That’s it!
