How to Make a Moving Mood Board with InDesign | Adobe Creative Cloud

Animate a collage of images and text that evokes inspiration for future creative projects.

Start from scratch, or download practice files [https://adobe.ly/2z6oCis] for a head start. Steps below.

Animate an image:

1. Open moving-mood-board_practice.indd.
2. Click on the palm leaves image in the layout.
3. Choose Window – Interactive – Animation.
4. Choose an animation from the Preset drop down. We chose Fly in from Top.
5. Set other animation properties. We set the Duration to ‘0.75’ seconds and the Speed to ‘Ease Out’.

Tip: Click the Preview Spread: EPUB icon in the lower left of the Animation panel to test the animation at any point.

Animate multiple images:

1. Shift+click to select (in this order):

a. Bubbles
b. Agave
c. Blue liquid (small)

2. Set the animation properties. We chose:

• Preset: Fly in from Bottom
• Duration: 0.75 seconds
• Speed: Ease Out

3. Shift+click to select (in this order):

a. Black liquid (large)
b. Black tile
c. Silverware

4. Set the animation properties. We chose:

• Preset: Fade in
• Duration: 0.75 seconds
• Speed: Ease Out

5. Shift+click to select the color swatches on the right from top-to-bottom.
6. Set the animation properties. We chose:

• Preset: Fly in from Top
• Duration: 0.5 seconds
• Speed: Ease Out

7. Shift+click to select the rectangle and then the text contained inside it.
8. Set the animation properties. We chose:

• Preset: Fly in from Left
• Duration: 0.75 seconds
• Speed: Ease Out

Link the timing:

1. Open the Timing panel (Window – Interactive – Timing).
2. Control+click (Windows), or Command+click (macOS), to select groups of items that should animate simultaneously. Then, click the Play Together icon at the bottom of the panel.

Combine these items into groups:

• Palm and bubbles
• Blue liquid large, black tile, and silverware
• All 4 rectangles

3. Preview the animation: Click Publish Online, accept the defaults, click Publish, then click View Document.

That’s it!
