In this tutorial, we will cover Photoshop’s 3D and animation features to create a 2.5D parallax effect to make your photos come to life!
Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll learn in this Photoshop tutorial:
1️⃣ Masking to Extract Foreground From Background
Learn to use the Select Subject command to automatically make selections around the main subject of your image. Then use the Quick Mask mode to refine your selections and create a mask that separates the foreground from the background.
2️⃣ Content-Aware and Cloning To Create a Clean Background Plate
To create the 2.5D Parallax effect, you will need a clear background (without your main subject). To remove anything from a photo in Photoshop, you will most likely end up using the Content-Aware Fill and Clone Tool. These Photoshop features allow you to quickly generate pixels either by generating them automatically or copying them from another area.
3️⃣ 3D to Separate and Move Foreground and Background
After you have your foreground and background in separate layers, you will need to turn them into 3D Objects (Postcards) so that you can animate them in 3D space.
4️⃣ Animating with The Timeline Panel
To animate the 3D objects, you will need to use the Timeline panel in Photoshop. With the Timeline Panel, you can move 3D objects in 3D space, and with the use of Keyframes, you can animate the motion that you create.
