It’s time to put GIMP and Photoshop to the test! In this video, I give myself 90 seconds to remove the background from an image using both Photoshop and GIMP. The purpose of this tutorial is to show that both photo editing software have great AI-powered selection tools that allow you to quickly remove an image background. Photoshop uses the Select Subject feature, combined with Layer Mask Properties that allow you to refine your selection, while GIMP uses the Foreground Select Tool and the ability to paint directly on the layer mask.
Photoshop is offered for a premium subscription fee as part of Adobe’s Creative Cloud, while GIMP is completely free. Both programs are used to edit and manipulate photos.
