How to Replace a Video Background in Premiere Pro | Adobe Creative Cloud

Add new backgrounds and color effects to make your videos pop.

Start from scratch, or download the project file containing the sample assets [ https://adobe.ly/2Z7Le2X ] for a head start. Steps below.

Prep your footage:

1. Arrange your media so that the main footage is above your new background footage.
2. Make sure to have your main footage selected.

Crop your footage:

1. Search for Crop in the Effects panel.
2. Double-click the effect to apply it to your footage.
3. In the Effect Controls panel crop the Left by 28%.
4. Then crop the Right by 27%.

Remove the background:

1. Search for Ultra Key in the Effects panel.
2. Double-click the effect to apply it to your footage.
3. Click the eyedropper next to Key Color.
4. In the footage, select the color you are trying to remove.
5. Change the Output to Alpha Channel.
6. Adjust the individual settings to make sure the background is clean.
7. Change the Outback back to Composite.

Add some color:

1. Search for Tint in the Effects panel.
2. Double-click the effect to apply it to your footage.
3. Change the Map White to value add a tint to your subject.
