Create A ‘Camp’ Inspired Composite | Pride Design Challenge

CHALLENGE: Use masking, object selection tools, and repeats to create a composite inspired by the ‘Camp’ movement.

‘Camp’ is a visual aesthetic that showcases the ironic and exaggerated. It was born out of pre-Stonewall gay culture and has since grown to be recognized in recent pop culture. According to the 1964 ‘Notes on ‘Camp’’, the style showcases “artifice, frivolity, and shocking excess.”

Andy Warhol was the founder of The Factory, an artists collective that was described as “a safe space in which everyone and everything is queer.” Warhol openly expressed his queer identity through his art, despite homosexuality being criminalized in the United States at the time.
