Adding Actions: Create an Interactive AR Button | Getting to Know AR in Aero | Adobe Creative Cloud

Get to know AR in this Adobe Aero series led by James Zachary, Director of Animation at Adobe Aero.

Adding Life to your AR Scene with Actions: Use Play animation, Play images and Play audio actions to create a fully interactive AR button.
Download Adobe Aero to get started: https://www.adobe.com/products/aero.html

What you learned: How to use the Play animation, Play images and Play audio actions in your augmented reality scene.
• A Behavior is the combination of a trigger and an action.
• Play animation applies an animation that comes with the imported assets.
◦You can embed animations onto a single imported object or import separate animation files onto that object as FBX or GLB assets. Ensure the animations are created on the exact same object/rig that you are importing them on.
◦Embedded animations show in the Clip drop down.
• Play images allows you to play 2D animated GIFs or PNG sequences.
• PNG sequences must be zipped into a single zip file and imported into Aero as a .ZIP.
• Transition will create a simple blend between actions. This allows you to chain together multiple Play animation actions on the same object while ensuring a smooth visual transition between them.

Using Surface Anchors | Getting to Know AR in Adobe Aero | Adobe Creative Cloud

Get to know AR in this Adobe Aero series led by James Zachary, Director of Animation at Adobe Aero.

Using Surface Anchors: Anchor your augmented reality experience to the real-world using surface anchors.
Download Adobe Aero to get started: https://www.adobe.com/products/aero.html
Download practice files HERE: https://helpx.adobe.com/aero/how-to/using-scene-anchors.html?playlistPath=/services/playlist.helpx/products:SG_ADOBEAERO/playlist:topic/learn-path:key-techniques/set-header:guides/en_us.json

What you learned: Using surface anchors in Aero
• There are three types of surface anchors in Adobe Aero:
◦Horizontal surface
◦Vertical surface
◦Image anchor.
• The surface anchor can be changed by selecting the anchor type in the Scene Graph and then changing the anchor type in the properties panel.
• Horizontal surface is the default anchor surface and should be used when you want to anchor your scene to the ground, a tabletop, or other flat horizontal plane.
• Vertical surface is used if you need to fix your experience to a wall or other vertical plane.
• Image anchor allows you to attach the augmented reality experience to a 2D image such as a logo, poster, or floorplan.
• For more information on Image Anchors and what makes a good anchor, see the documentation HERE: https://helpx.adobe.com/aero/using/set-an-image-anchor.html

Pro tip:
• Camera reset, along with Frame all, can get you out of any viewport entanglements.

Adding Interactivity with Triggers | Getting to Know AR in Adobe Aero | Adobe Creative Cloud

Get to know AR in this Adobe Aero series led by James Zachary, Director of Animation at Adobe Aero.

Adding interactivity with Triggers: Applying triggers is the first step in creating interactions within your augmented reality scenes.
Download Adobe Aero to get started: https://www.adobe.com/products/aero.html
Download practice files HERE: https://helpx.adobe.com/aero/how-to/trigger-action-augmented-reality-aero.html?playlistPath=/services/playlist.helpx/products:SG_ADOBEAERO/learn-path:key-techniques/playlist:topic/set-header:animation/en_us.json

What you learned: How to use the Start, Tap, and Proximity Triggers to start actions associated to objects within the AR experience.
• Triggers, when paired with actions, can be used to create interactions within your augmented reality scenes.
• Triggers are used to execute an action that you have chosen on an object, i.e. if you set the trigger as TAP, then the selected action is applied when you tap the object.
• There are 4 types of triggers in Aero:
◦START will trigger an action at the start of the experience.
◦TAP will trigger an action upon the viewer tapping an object in the scene.
◦PROXIMITY ENTER will trigger an action upon the viewer entering a defined distance set on an object within the scene.
◦PROXIMITY EXIT will trigger an action upon the viewer exiting a defined distance set on an object within the scene.
• Each trigger has three re-trigger options that inform Aero how you would like to restart the trigger:
◦After the Action is Complete, you cannot fire off the trigger again until the whole action block finishes.
◦Immediately, you will interrupt the action being performed and restart it immediately upon the trigger.
◦Never, the trigger only fires once and then it is over and will not trigger again.

Pro tip:
• Hiding an object in the Scene Graph and using a START trigger along with a SHOW action is a great behavior to use when revealing objects in your augmented reality experience.
